Hermantown’s Francisco, Superior’s Marthaler win gold with Team USA in Youth Olympics

Two weeks ago Hermantown’s AJ Francisco and Superior’s Jackson ‘JJ’ Marthaler departed for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in South Korea. On Wednesday they both became gold medalists.
Early this morning Team USA shut out Czechia 4-0 to top the podium for the first time since 2016.
Francisco registered an assist on USA’s very first goal.
This was redemption for the red, white and blue after falling 6-5 to Czechia in a shootout in game two. That marked USA’s only loss of the tournament.
USA took silver back in 2020.
