Hermantown’s Hanson, Pionk among 2023 NHL Draft hopefuls

Round one of the 2023 NHL Draft started on Wednesday evening.
Five skaters with Northland ties are Draft hopefuls, especially for rounds two through seven on Thursday.
Two are Hermantown natives in the form of forward Aaron Pionk and defenseman Ty Hanson. They are both committed to play collegiately for the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Three more Bulldog commits are 2023 prospects. They are Warroad star forward Jayson Shaugabay, netminder Adam Gajan of Slovakia, and center Matthew Perkins out of Saskatchewan.
Round two begins Thursday at 10 a.m. CT. The draft is taking place at Bridgestone Arena, the home of the Nashville Predators.
