Hermantown Hawks senior Emilie Rish signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) on Friday to row for the University of Minnesota.
Rish is also a two sport athlete as she lead the Hawks volleyball team this past season with 46 total kills on the year.
“I never thought that I’d actually be rowing because I’ve always dedicated my whole athletic career with volleyball. After being reached out to and hearing, hey, maybe do you want to try a different sport,” Rish said about choosing rowing over volleyball.
“All of a sudden looking into it and seeing all the possibilities with it, I just had to take the shot. Honestly I’m super thrilled that I am because I’ve never rowed professionally before, so I decided that I wanted to try something new and something different,” concluded Rish.
Two more Hermantown Hawks also announced their collegiate commitments this week.
On Thursday Wylee Arro and Cruz Runyan both signed their national letters of intent to play baseball right across the bridge for UW-Superior.
