Changing over from Section 7AA to Section 7A, the No. 3 Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets took on the No. 2 Hermantown Hawks in the second Section 7A semifinal matchup at AMSOIL Arena on Saturday.

The Hawks got on the board first with a goal from Charlie Marchand early in the first period. Hibbing/Chisholm would respond halfway through the first with a power-play goal from Tate Swanson.

Early into the second period, Tate Swanson would give the Bluejackets their first lead of the game, netting his second goal of the night. Hermantown would tie things back up at twos with a goal from Gabriel Swenson, but Hibbing/Chisholm would respond with a goal of their own from Benny Galli. The Bluejackets would extend their lead to 4-2 thanks to a sunk shot from Isaiah Hildenbrand

Halfway through the third period, Cole Swanson nets the puck to put the score at 5-2 Hibbing/Chisholm. Two minutes later, Hermantown’s River Freeman finds his target to make it a two-goal game.

Hibbing/Chisholm would outlast Hermantown, winning 5-3 and advancing to the Section 7A championship game on Wednesday, February 26th. This is the first time since 2008 the Hawks will not play in a section final game.
