Hilltoppers win 8th straight, Grand Rapids/Greenway defeats Mirage on the road
It was an excellent night of girl’s hockey in the Northlands on Thursday.
The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers earned their 8th win in a row with a 5-2 victory of the Duluth Northern Stars. While the Northern stars struck first, it was the Hilltoppers who went on a scoring spree, good enough to almost triple the Northern Stars goal total.
In Hermantown, the Grand Rapids/Greenway Lightning stunned the Proctor/Hermantown Mirage, winning 2-1. Similar to the Hilltoppers, the Lightning found themselves down early but rallied to take the lead and eventually win, winning their 6th straight.
Grand Rapids/Greenway will next play at Duluth Marshall on Tuesday, a battle of the winning streaks. Proctor/Hermantown will try to bounce back against Andover on Friday while the Northern Stars next play Cloquet-Esko-Carlton on Tuesday.
