La Crosse Loggers chop down Duluth Huskies in tough doubleheader
The Duluth Huskies wouldn’t be able to swing past the La Crosse Loggers in a doubleheader Tuesday night. The Huskies fell 13-12 in the 10th inning of game one, then dropped game two 4-3 at Wade Stadium.
In game one, the Huskies scored six runs in the third inning and by the fifth led 10-6. However, La Crosse would put up a run in the seventh then four in the eighth to take a 11-10 lead. Duluth tied it in the bottom of the ninth, but the Loggers added two more in the top of the 10th to eventually secure the win. MJ Sweeney led Duluth with one run, three hits and four RBI, while Reagan Reeder had two runs, one hit and three RBI.
In game two, Duluth scored two runs right away in the first inning. La Crosse then added one in the second, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh for a 4-1 lead. Duluth responded with one run in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 4-3. Ethan Cole led the Huskies with one run, two hits and one RBI.
Next, the Huskies and Loggers will close out their series Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. at Wade Stadium.
