Longtime Hibbing coach Gail Nucech inducted into a national Hall of Fame

Former Hibbing High School coach Gail Nucech was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in Bismarck, North Dakota on Tuesday.

A Greenway High School and Bemidji State University graduate, Nucech held a whistle for Bluejacket athletics for 44 years. From 1969-2012 she took stints coaching volleyball, basketball, softball, track and field, and gymnastics.

Volleyball was her main sport. Nucech finished with a career record of 884 wins and 254 losses, including 23 state tournament appearances and one title victory in 1975.

Nucech is already a member of the Bemidji State University Athletic Hall of Fame (1990), the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame (2011), and Hibbing High School Hall of Fame (2015).
