Mega second half leads UWS men’s soccer to Bridge Battle victory at CSS
Scoring five goals in the second half on Wednesday, the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men’s soccer team would defeat the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) 5-1 in Duluth.
After a scoreless first half, the Yellowjackets’ Isaac Becket broke the goose eggs putting UWS up 1-0 in the 52nd minute. Just 30 seconds later the Saints’ Akeem Robotham scored to tie the game 1-1. It took UWS just over a minute to retake the lead thanks to a Freddy Watson goal. Jake Kidd, Bryce Boldt and Kyle Massingham followed with goals of their own to earn the 5-1 bridge battle victory.
In net for CSS Marco Hernandez made seven saves, while UWS’ goalkeeper Alex Paredes made three.
This also marked UWS’ first win of the season. Now 1-1-2 the Yellowjackets next visit UW-Eau Claire Saturday, September 14 at 4 p.m. CSS (0-4-1) will next host Wartburg College Friday, September 13 at 2 p.m.
