Mike Randolph, the coach of Duluth East boys hockey for 32 years, has set the all time wins record in boys high school hockey history, as Northern Lakes beat Prairie Centre 11-0 to claim Randolph’s 708th win.

With the win, Randolph surpassed Rochester Mayo’s Lorne Gross, who tallied 707.

“Just knowing my wife was in the building, my family was in the building, it meant the world to me,” said Randolph. “To be honest with you, I wanted to put in running time so they could get home earlier, because they have our grandkids with them. It’ll be a special night I’ll never forget.”

The former Greyhound spent the last three seasons at St. Thomas Academy, after an illustrious career with Duluth East. In his time with St. Thomas Academy, he recorded a 49-30-3 overall record, reaching his 707th career win.

Randolph became the head coach of Northern Lakes in May of 2024. Northern Lakes is a co-op between several school districts including Aitkin, Crosby-Ironton, Pequot Lakes and Pine River-Backus.
