Moose Lake/Willow River football shut out Crosby-Ironton 25-0 at Esko to earn their second straight Section 7AA title. With the win the Rebels earn their 16th section title in program history, and fifth since 2017.
Leading the Rebels was junior running back Jaxsyn Schmidt scoring three touchdowns.
“Our coaches really talk about always playing for the alumni and the people in the past years, really keeping the traditions and playing for them year after year,” Schmidt said.
“Regular season, we don’t have to worry about wins and losses we just get better each week. Program goal is section championships. So these kids, that’s all they hear, that’s all we talk about is getting to this game,” head coach Dave Louzek said.
Moose Lake/Willow River improves to 9-1 and takes a nine game winning streak into the Class AA state tournament. State action kicks off November 10.
