Coming off a weekend sweep over Cornell University the number 19 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team is now turning their clocks to mountain time.
A month into their season the Bulldogs will finally drop the puck on National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) play this weekend visiting Colorado College.
“I’m glad we won a couple games, hopefully it helps the mindset,” UMD head coach Scott Sandelin said. “It’s our league, our league is different. It’s tough going into a place that, they’re good at home. It’s a new building, haven’t played there, it’s league play so got to bring your best every night.”
Now 4-4 UMD faces off against the 3-5 Tigers Friday at 8:30 p.m.
If you tune in you may notice a few different looking faces. The Bulldogs have revived their ‘Mo-Bros’ Movember campaign, growing mustaches to raise funds and awareness for men’s health.
The cause is especially meaningful to the team with testicular cancer survivor Zach Stejskal now starting in goal for UMD.
“Last year that was our biggest motivation, and obviously again this year celebrating one year of him being cancer free. He was a huge inspiration for us last year and is every day for us,” senior forward Luke Loheit shared.
Last year they raised over $11,000 dollars in donations. Click Here to donate.
