No. 3 UMD women’s hockey seeking another top-ranked sweep visiting No. 1 Wisconsin
For the second time this season the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team will be visiting the number one team in the country.
The Bulldogs swept Ohio State University to open the year, and now this weekend they’re taking on the Wisconsin Badgers.
In between those series, UMD split with Colgate to enter this weekend ranked third in the USCHO DI poll boasting a 3-1 record. As for the Badgers, they are undefeated so far owning an offense that’s scored 34 goals in four games. UMD knows they will be a formidable test for their whole team.
“Super talented, obviously. A lot of the players on that team are also National Team players, so they have really, really high skill set. For us, we’ve got to be poised in how we play, and our angling and steering has to be really good,” UMD head coach Laura Schuler said.
“We had the chance to learn from the best team too, and we can be the best team. We have a pretty good team and we can compete against everyone,” sophomore goalie Ève Gascon added.
UMD is 3-1 in their last four visits to Madison. This is another Saturday-Sunday series with puck drop set for 2 p.m. both days at LaBahn Arena.
