The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team is in for a big WCHA battle to close out 2024. Fourth ranked UMD (10-5-1) is off to eighth ranked St. Cloud State University (10-5-3) this weekend for their final series of the month.

The Bulldogs are carrying in the momentum of two straight series sweeps against Bemidji State University and the University of Vermont, where they outshot opponents 23-2 over four games.

“We’ve been really working on our offensive production and we know going to St. Cloud, especially playing on the big ice, our tracking is going to have to be really paramount and important for us. We got to keep our D inside the dots, and so our forwards have to make sure they’re coming back hard and pushing pucks outside the dot lines,” head coach Laura Schuler said.

“I personally do like the big ice sheet. I think it allows for us defense to be more creative in our breakouts too, which is really fun,” senior defenseman Hanna Baskin said.

The Huskies however are no one to sneeze at, having handed the Minnesota Gophers one of their only four losses two weeks ago.

Puck drop in St. Cloud is Friday at 3 p.m., and Saturday at 1 p.m. With UMD will be WCHA Rookie of the Month Caitlin Kraemer.
