No. 5 Bulldogs skating home for another top ranked foe in No. 3 Wisconsin
The fifth ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey may have fallen to number one Ohio State University on the road last weekend, but they held the Buckeyes to a pair of 3-2 games, taking the first into overtime.
Head coach Maura Crowell said the Bulldogs learned a lot of lessons from their first big test of the season, including the 3-on-3 OT marathon which lasted into the final minute. The team hopes to carry those lessons back to AMSOIL Arena this weekend when they host the No. 3 Wisconsin Badgers.
“I’m encouraged, I’m excited about the weekend,” Coach Crowell said. “They’re a little bit different than Ohio State, but once you start playing top five teams in the country every area of the game is going to be contested. There’s a lot of speed out there, there’s not a lot of space, your decision making time needs to be quick, but that’s what’s fun.”
Puck drop between the Bulldogs and Badgers is set for 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
