No. 6 UMD women’s hockey falls just short in overtime against No. 1 Wisconsin
The No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team took home a conference point on Friday evening as they held No.1 University of Wisconsin to 1-1 in regulation play, Wisconsin would win 2-1 in overtime play.
UMD would get themselves on the board first halfway through the first period with a goal from Grace Sadura, her second goal of the season. Wisconsin’s Marianne Picard would score soon after, still in the first period. Both the second and third periods would go scoreless thanks to both UMD’s goaltender Eve Gascon and Wisconsin’s goaltender Ava McNaughton. In overtime play, Wisconsin would net their second goal of the night with thirty-six seconds to go thanks to Kirsten Simms. Gascon would make 40 saves throughout the game, while Simms would make 27 saves throughout the game.
