No. 7 UMD & No. 12 St. Cloud State women skate to tie, Bulldogs win shootout

The seventh ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team settled for a 1-1 tie after overtime with 12th ranked St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in their regular season home finale series opener Friday at AMSOIL Arena.
In the shootout netminder Emma Soderberg stuffed the Huskies, then Maggie Flaherty scored for the Bulldogs to claim the extra Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) point.
Gabbie Hughes scored UMD’s sole regulation goal late in the second period to lead 1-0. The Huskies tied the game late in the third forcing overtime, which ended scoreless.
UMD has now won back-to-back shootouts to stay unbeaten in their last three games. The Bulldogs (20-8-3) drop the puck on Senior Day Saturday against the Huskies at 3 p.m.
