The No. 7 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team is coming off a tough series against the Minnesota Gophers. The Bulldogs took Minnesota into overtime in game one, falling 3-2, but would drop game two 5-3 to suffer the series sweep.
UMD still had a positive showing on offense finding the back of the net five times over the weekend, always coming from behind, proving that when they’re down they are never out.
“Now we know that we can get ourselves out of those situations,” senior defender Taylor Stewart said. “Being down a couple of goals, even in the locker room we didn’t, none of us were stressed on Friday night. We all knew we were coming back, we had the belief in ourselves and in each other. We’ve proven to ourselves and to our opponents that it doesn’t matter the scoreboard we’re going to be biting at your heels.”
Now 7-5 UMD visits St. Cloud State University (7-6), a team that beat the Gophers Monday 4-1, this Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
