No. 7 UMD women’s hockey shuts out MSU-Mankato in series opener
On Friday the seventh ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team shut out Minnesota State University, Mankato 3-0 at AMSOIL Arena. It was a great rebound for the Bulldogs, snapping out of a four game losing skid.
Danielle Burgen scored first for the Bulldogs on a late first period power-play, then Mannon McMahon made it 2-0 before intermission. Burgen scored her second of the night in the second period to put UMD up 3-0. The third would end scoreless.
UMD goaltender Hailey MacLeod earned the shutout for the Bulldogs recording 16 saves.
No. 7 UMD improves to 14-11-2 overall and 11-10 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play. The Bulldogs will search for the series sweep Saturday hosting MSU-Mankato (10-18) for a 2 p.m. puck drop back at AMSOIL Arena.
