No. 9 UMD women’s hockey talks hosting No. 2 Colgate
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team will face their first non-conference foe in seven weeks this weekend. The ninth ranked 8-4 Bulldogs are hosting second ranked 13-1 Colgate out of the ECAC.
“They’ve been playing well, they’re a good team. They have a lot of fifth year players, they have older players who know what it takes to win. We’re at home, we get to play our style of hockey, they’ve got to travel so it’ll be another good matchup,” UMD head coach Maura Crowell said.
“Every single shift I think is going to be huge, and then also just coming right out of the gates playing Bulldog hockey,” Clara Van Wieren added, a senior foward.
UMD will need to bounce back from a shaky special teams performace allowing two short-handed goals to the Gophers last Saturday. The Bulldogs would suffer the series sweep to Minnesota at AMSOIL Arena.
Puck drop against Colgate this Friday is set for 6 p.m. at AMSOIL, then Saturday at 3 p.m..
