Northland College hires former PWHL & Gopher assistant as head women’s hockey coach
Northland College has landed quite the catch in the form of their new women’s hockey head coach Jake Bobrowski. He is both a former Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Minnesota and Minnesota Gopher assistant coach.
Northland announced his hiring Wednesday, making him the program’s fourth head coach.
Last year he helped PWHL Minnesota win a Walter Cup championship, but was among the front office layoffs to follow.
The year prior, he was head coach at Elmira College. That season they finished ranked 10th in all of NCAA DIII women’s hockey, also claiming their conference championship.
From 2021-2022 he served as an assistant coach to the Gopher women’s hockey team, who won the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) that year.
Bobrowski’s collegiate coaching career began at Hamline University. An assistant coach from 2016-2021, the Pipers would reach their first NCAA DIII tournament, and make the NCAA Frozen Four twice.
Bobrowski is also a 22 year veteran of the Saint Paul Police Department.
