Northwood/Solon Springs completes historic season as state runners-up

On Thursday the No. 3 Northwood/Solon Springs baseball team would fall 11-1 to No. 1 Eleva-Strum in the WIAA Division 4 state championship game held in Grand Chute, Wisconsin.

Eleva-Strum would make their presence known early scoring seven runs in the first inning. The Green Eagles would answer with one in the top of the second, but in the bottom of the frame the Cardinals added four more to lead 11-1. That would be it for scoring, with the match ending 11-1 in the fifth inning.

Blaise Kidder brought in Dylan Taggart for the Green Eagles’ sole run. Isaiah Ahlberg pitched the final three innings for Northwood/Solon Springs throwing five strikeouts while only allowing one hit.

The Cardinals were led by Alex Anderson with one hit, one run and three RBI, and pitcher Tyler Webb threw six strikeouts. For the full box score, Click Here.

Making their first-ever state tournament appearance the Green Eagles close out their historic run as Division 4 state runners-up. Northwood/Solon Springs ends 2024 with a 20-2 overall record.
