The UMD men’s and women’s hockey teams were on a tear this weekend, only allowing two total goals to 10th ranked St. Cloud State. Two goalies work between the pipes was certainly noticed by their conferences.

Gascon made all 48 saves she faced, the first back to back shutouts she’s had in her career. It’s the fourth shutout of the season and 11th in her Bulldogs career, plus it’s the third time she’s been named the conference’s Goaltender of the Week.

On the men’s side, Klayton Knapp only allowed two goals this weekend, good for NCHC Rookie of the Week. On Friday night, Knapp tallied 24 saves, and the next day, made 20. Overall, Knapp had a . 960 save percentage on the weekend and a 1.00 Goals against average.

Knapp is UMD’s fifth NCHC weekly honoree and the third different rookie to land the first-year player of the week accolade.

UMD turns to take 18th ranked Colorado College with puck drop at 9 p.m.
