Prep basketball: Cloquet boy’s edge Duluth Marshall, Hibbing picks up first win
On the court Monday night, Cloquet boy’s basketball bested Duluth Marshall in a thrilling 77-66 win, while 0-15 Hibbing picked up the first win of their season against Proctor, 68-30.
Despite Brooks Johnson’s dominant presence on offensive end for Duluth Marshall, the Cloquet was with the Hilltoppers every step of the way, eventually finding enough offensive firepower to put the Hilltoppers away.
The Lumberjacks are now 9-9 and face Grand Rapids on Tuesday, while Duluth Marshall falls to 8-10 and will host Cook County on Thursday.
In Proctor, the Bluejackets, who hadn’t won a game all year, stunned the Rails, as they held them to just 30 points on the offensive end.
Hibbing has the chance to make it two straight on Friday against Aitkin, while Proctor looks to get back on track on Tuesday against Esko.
