Prep Basketball: Esko girls top Rock Ridge, Northwestern & Denfeld boys win season openers

In prep basketball Thursday the Northwestern and Duluth Denfeld boys earned season opening wins, while the Esko girls won their home opener.

In Esko, the Eskomos topped Rock Ridge 51-41 in what was the Wolverines’ second-ever game as a program. Kaitlyn McConnell led the Eskomos with 14 points improving to 1-1 on the season.

In Maple, Northwestern rolled past Hayward 74-36 in a Heart O’ North Conference clash to start their season 1-0.

In Duluth, Denfeld picked up a big 78-39 win over South Shore in both of their season openers.
