Prep basketball: Proctor girl’s pick up 18th win, Esko beats Cloquet as Perich becomes all time leading scorer
In prep basketball action on Tuesday, Proctor girl’s basketball took down Mesabi East 64-49 in a battle of two 17 win teams, while Esko beat Cloquet 83-66, as Koi Perich surpassed Kory Deadrick to become Esko’s all time leading scorer.
On the girl’s side, the Rails were stout on defense, holding their opponent to less than 50 points for the third game in a row.
Proctor is back in action against Chisholm on Thursday while Mesabi East looks to bounce back against Duluth Marshall on Thursday.
In Esko, the story of the night was Koi Perich, who needed just 13 points to tie the Esko school record for points and 14 to break it.
In the 2nd half, a layup from Perich was all it took for the senior to dethrone the current Superior High School head basketball coach.
Esko looks for their second win in a row against Bemidji while Cloquet looks to rebound against Moose Lake/Willow River on Friday.
