Prep Boy’s Hockey: No. 2 Hermantown downs Grand Rapids, Superior advances in playoffs & Ashland falls

In prep boy’s hockey Tuesday Hermantown and Superior picked up home wins while Ashland fell on the road.
No. 2 Hermantown downed Grand Rapids 4-1 to close out their regular season 22-2-1. The Thunderhawks finished their regular season 12-12-1. The Section 7A and 7AA tournaments begin Saturday, February 18.
Prior to the game Hermantown celebrated plans for a new arena, NorthStar Ford Arena, set to begin construction in 2024.
Superior opened their playoff slate with a 14-0 win over Barron’s co-op the Northwest Icemen. The third seeded Spartans advance to the Division 1 Sectional 1 Regional Finals Thursday where they’ll host 11th seeded Marshfield.

12th seeded Ashland fell at 5th seeded Chippewa Falls 10-0 ending their season 14-9-1.
