Prep Hockey: Duluth Marshall & Moose Lake Area girls, Denfeld boys earn wins
In prep hockey on Thursday the Duluth Marshall and Moose Lake Area girls, and Duluth Denfeld boys earned wins.
At Mars Lakeview Arena, the Duluth Marshall girls defeated Superior 5-1 earning their 10th straight win to improve to 11-1 on the season. Addy Benson scored the sole goal for the Spartans in the first period. Ilsa Lindaman would go on to score two goals in the second and two in the third to finish the night with four points. Nina Thorson was the Hilltoppers’ other goal scorer. Suffering their first loss on the season Superior (6-1) will look to rebound Saturday hosting International Falls at 2 p.m. Duluth Marshall (11-1) hosts Delano/Rockford Saturday at Noon.
At the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center, the Moose Lake Area girls held of Duluth 3-2. The Rebels improve to 4-6 and next visit Hayward Saturday at 1 p.m. The Duluth Northern Stars (5-6) next host Grand Rapids/Greenway Tuesday at 5p.m.
At Wessman Arena, the Denfeld boys rolled past Superior winning 5-1. John Scott scored a hat-trick for Denfeld in the second period, while Lucas Williams scored the Spartans lone goal in the third. The Hunters improve to 5-3 and next host Hermantown Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Superior (3-2) next hosts Amery Saturday at 2 p.m.
