Prep hockey: Grand Rapids & Duluth Marshall boys win, North Shore girls take down CEC
On Tuesday, Grand Rapids boys hockey took down Proctor 6-2, Duluth Marshall protected home ice by beating Superior 3-1, and North Shore hit the road to take down Cloquet/Esko/Carlton 5-1.
Grand Rapids got off to a hot start, taking a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Luke Palecek, Luka Rohloff, and Ander Rajala. Cooper Annala and Tanner Ross scored back-to-back for Proctor to cut the lead to 3-2, but Caleb Gunderson scored a goal of his own in addition to a second goal by both Rohloff and Rajala.
Grand Rapids turns to face Roseau on Friday at 6 p.m., while Proctor looks to bounce back against Hibbing/Chisholm on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Duluth Marshall boys hockey jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Superior on their home ice, and eventually added an insurance goal to take down the Spartans.
Duluth Marshall is still undefeated (3-0), and will face Minneapolis on Saturday at 2 p.m. Superior turns to face New Richmond on Saturday at 2 p.m.
North Shore also benefit from a quick start, as Nina Thorson assisted Berkley Hoff on the first two goals of the game to jump out in front of CEC.
The Storm turn to face Pine City Area on Saturday at 3 p.m. while the Lumberjacks hit the road to face Hibbing/Chisholm on Thursday at 7 p.m.
