Prep Hoops: Asumas lead Cherry boys past Denfeld, Cromwell-Wright girls hold off Chisholm
In prep basketball on Thursday, the Cherry boys downed Duluth Denfeld on the road, while the Cromwell-Wright girls earned a close home win over Chisholm.
Cherry boys basketball defeated Denfeld 78-41 in Duluth. The Tigers were led by sophomore Noah Asuma with 25 points, Carson Brown with 16 points, and Minnesota Gophers men’s basketball commit Isaac Asuma with 12 points. Denfeld was led by Ethan Starstead with 19 points.
This win marked Cherry’s 11th in a row. They now sit 18-2 overall and next host Nevis Friday, February 9 at 7 p.m. Denfeld (9-9) next hosts Chisago Lakes Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
Cromwell-Wright girls basketball held off Chisholm 56-49 at home to improve to 15-6 on the season. The Cardinals next visit South Ridge Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7:15 p.m. Chisholm (15-5) visits South Ridge Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7:15 p.m.
