Prep Soccer: Cloquet/Carlton and Esko girls draw, Grand Rapids boys hold off Proctor

In prep soccer on Tuesday the Cloquet/Carlton and Esko girls would play to a draw while the Grand Rapids boys earned a road win.
Cloquet/Carlton and Esko would battle to a 1-1 final. Each squad returns from a trip to the state tournament in 2022 after Esko won the Section 7A title and Cloquet/Carlton the 7AA title.
They would fight through a scoreless first half. In the second half Lumberjacks’ Lauren Hughes broke through on a free kick in the 62nd minute then, with 53 seconds left, Esko’s Kaitlyn McConnell scored off Abrianna Madill’s corner kick to tie the game. Both teams stay unbeaten as Esko improves to 2-0-1 and Cloquet/Carlton improves to 1-0-2.
Earlier Tuesday Grand Rapids boys soccer defeated Proctor 3-2 at Proctor’s Egerdahl Field. Scoring for the Thunderhawks was Owen Racine, Nathan Langlois and Hunter Erickson. They improve to 2-0-1 while Proctor falls to 0-3.
