Prep soccer: Duluth Marshall explodes offensively, Cloquet-Carlton shutout

On Friday, the Duluth Marshall boys soccer team defeated Spectrum 8-0 in their season opener, while Cloquet-Carlton fell to Two Rivers 1-0.

The Hilltoppers poured in eight goals against Spectrum, with three in the first half and five in the second.

Benson Peterson and Briar Mrozik both found the back of the net twice, while Roy Talbert, Ricardo Marcel, Minsoo Park, and Logan McAuliffe all chipping in one as well.

Goaltender Thomas Falgier turned in a clean sheet.

The Hilltoppers next take on Two Rivers at noon on Saturday.

For Cloquet-Carlton, they were turned away from the net multiple times in route to getting shutout.

A big reason for the shutout was missed opportunities for the Lumberjacks, as they missed plenty of point blank shots.

The Lumberjacks next take the pitch on Tuesday against Esko.
