Prep Soccer: Esko girl’s ends Cloquet-Carlton’s win streak, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boy’s dominates Proctor
In August, Esko girl’s soccer kicked off their first road game of the season visiting Cloquet-Carlton. The Lumberjacks came away with the 1-0 win then, but Thursday night, Esko got home field advantage.
After a scoreless first half, Cloquet found themselves with a penalty kick, and Makena Smith ripped the ball right into the net for the lead. But Esko didn’t let the point go unnoticed, with Katlyn McConnel who found her way around the Lumberjacks and rolled the ball to tie things up. Not long later Esko was back for another as McConnell sent the ball right to the top of the net.
Esko used their home-field advantage to defeat Cloquet 2-1.
Esko and Cloquet’s section first-round opponents have yet to be announced.
Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boy’s came into Thursday’s matchup with an 11-game winning streak and looked to protect their streak in their regular season finale against Proctor.
Just three minutes into the first half, Noah Hansen all alone on the left side boot the ball high and right to put the Lumberjacks on the board. Hansen then passed to Hudson Snesrud who went for the shot but was stopped by Aiden Haala. Now 3-0 Lumberjacks, Hansen went for the shot, was knocked away, but Snesrud finished the job.
Cloquet-Esko-Carlton takes home their 12th win in a row, defeating Proctor 9-0.
