Prep Volleyball: Chisholm honors longtime coach; Cloquet shuts out Proctor

Thursday night was all about volleyball from Cloquet to the Iron Range. In Chisholm, volleyball fans filled the stands all suited up in grey. They were supporting the Bluestreaks girls and longtime coach, teacher, and friend Don LaLonde in his battle against brain cancer.

The Bluestreaks riding a 6-2 recorded hosted Hill City looking to increase their overall record. Chisholm won the first set 25-16. No final score has been reported. To submit one, email sports@wdio.com. Chisholm will hit the hardwood again on the road visiting Greenway on Monday, September 18 at 7 p.m.

Over in Cloquet, the Lumberjacks welcomed the Proctor Rails into town. The Rails got some kills on the board early from Ella Walker. However, the Lumberjacks would win 3-0. Senior Ava Carlson had a match high of 23 kills bringing her career total to 999 kills.

Cloquet will be on the road for their next game taking on Rock Ridge on Tuesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. Proctor will suit up again on Tuesday, September 19 on the road against Duluth East, game time is set for 7 p.m.
