Prep volleyball: Duluth East and Hermantown protect home court, Esko sweeps Proctor
On Tuesday, Duluth East took down Superior 3-1, Hermantown beat Grand Rapids in a battle of heavyweights 3-0, and Esko swept Proctor in straight sets, 3-0.
The Greyhounds were winners of the first set 25-16, but not without some pushback by Superior. That aggression showed in the second set, as Superior evened the match up at 1 set a piece (25-21 Superior.)
However, the Greyhounds flipped the switch in the back half of the match, winning the next two sets 25-12 and 25-18.
Duluth East turns to face Duluth Denfeld on Tuesday, while Superior tries to bounce back against Cloquet on Thursday.
In Hermantown, the Hawks protected home court against Grand Rapids in a tight matchup, with Hermantown winning 25-22, 26-24, and 25-23.
Hermantown’s Gabi Arntson led the way for the Hawks with 10 kills, while Lainie Barrick had 12 kills for Grand Rapids.
Hermantown takes on Cloquet on October 15th, while Grand Rapids tries to bounce back on Thursday against Greenway.
In Proctor, Esko went on the road and overpowered the Rails, winning in three straight sets in dominating fashion.
Esko tries to make it six straight wins on Thursday against Floodwood, while Proctor takes on Mesabi East on Monday.
