Proctor/Hermantown Mirage secure 5th straight Section 7A title
The Proctor/Hermantown Mirage are on their way to a fifth straight state tournament, after taking down Rock Ridge in the Section 7A championship, 6-1.
The Mirage got off to a fast start thanks to Grace Nichols following up her shot and scoring. In the second period, the Mirage extended their lead thanks to Jane Eckstrom, but Rock Ridge’s Natalie Bergman would cut the deficit in half. However, that would be it on the scoring front for the Wolverines, as the Mirage would go on to put up four more goals.
“Definitely a little bit of a different season,” said Emma Stauber, Head Coach of the Mirage. “We had a lot of roles and shoes to fill at the beginning of the year, and the girls embraced the challenge.”
“Well, state is an amazing experience,” said senior Jane Eckstrom. “Some of my best memories are there. So being able to bring this team back there and back to the X is so fun.”
The Mirage will await their opponent for the state tournament in the coming days.
