For eight years Brett Olson has put on the Twin Ports Pro Development Camp to inspire Northland youth to love and grow in the sport of hockey.
The instructors are local skaters who’ve found success and want to give back, like Proctor/Hermantown girls hockey head coach Emma Stauber. Both a professional hockey player and varsity high school coach Stauber said she’s excited to hand down her knowledge in her first year with the camp.
“It takes out the pressure of the game, the in-season competition, the fighting for lines and stuff. We really get to focus in on the small details. We go back to the basics of the skating, the stick handling, shooting and those kind of things and then implement some game systems and decision making type of learning into all of our drills. I think that’s what’s really exciting about these types of camps,” Stauber shared.
The camp is for kids 6U to 14U and runs through Thursday at Wessman Arena.
