Proctor softball gearing up for successful season after back to back Section 7AA championships
Proctor softball, the back to back defending Section 7AA champions, are looking to replicate their success, as they boasted a 22-5 record last season and won the Class AA consolation championship.
Despite the departure of some of the senior class, those that will wear the Rails uniform this year are ready to step up to the plate.
“Well, we’re excited. We have a younger team this year, so we have a lot to build up off of, but we’re really confident in it this year, so I’m excited,” shared Lilly Hart, a senior right fielder.
“You know, we always have high expectations coming from us, going back to back state,” said Anika Burke, a senior catcher. “We just got to recognize that we have to make a run every year, and every year’s different. Teams are getting better, we’re getting better, so simple as that.”
“It’s really nice to be leading the team because we’ve grown up with all these girls and to be at this point where we can kind of step in the leadership role and take over after the past seniors who have been here who have had such an impact, it’s really nice,” added Grace Abbott, a senior third baseman.
The Rails will begin this season against the team they beat in last years Section 7AA championship, Rock Ridge, on April 4th.
