PWHL Minnesota to celebrate Walter Cup win on Friday, event moved to Xcel Energy Center

On Friday, the Minnesota Professional Women’s Hockey team is ready to celebrate their history inaugural championship with their fans.

The celebration, originally planned to take place at Rice Park Plaza, has been moved to the Xcel Energy Center due to possible rain and “overwhelming fan interest” the team said in a press release.

In a sold-out winner-take-all game against PWHL Boston Wednesday night, Minnesota put on a dominant performance, shutting out the hometown team 3-0.

On Friday, the PWHL Minnesota celebration begins at 5 p.m. and will feature a proclamation from St. Paul Deputy Mayor Jaimee Tincher, emcee Jessi Pierce, a DJ, and the PWHL Minnesota team and staff.

Fans can enter through Gate 1 on Kellogg Boulevard. The event is free and concessions stand will be open in the arena with food and beverages for purchase.
