Rock Ridge scores 12 unanswered goals to earn program’s first Section title berth

The second seeded Rock Ridge boy’s hockey team scored 12 unanswered goals Monday to take down third seeded Duluth Denfeld 12-1 in the Section 7A semifinals at AMSOIL Arena.
Kasey Lamppa scored a hat-trick for the Wolverines.
Denfeld scored first in the first period with a goal from John Scott.
In their second season since merging the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl and Eveleth-Gilbert programs this marked Rock Ridge’s first trip to the semifinals at AMSOIL, falling in the quarterfinals last season.
The Wolverines (18-8-1) will now make their program’s first section title appearance Wednesday facing off against top-seeded Hermantown (24-2-1).
