On Saturday nearly 400 rowers headed to the Twin Ports and hit the water for the 63rd annual Duluth International Rowing Regatta at the Duluth Rowing Club Boathouse on Park Point.
An event that boasted 11 crews from Minnesota, Upper Michigan, and the Canadian Province of Ontario.
“The races that we have here today are either 2000 meters or 1000 meters for the adult masters, which are the older rowers. The teams usually come prepared to race in multiple events, some of the kids will race as many as four or five events through the day. They’ll have the eights races which are the classic long 60 to 70 foot rowing shells with the coxswain who sits in the rear and then down to singles, individual one person in the boat,” said Duluth Rowing Club President Eric Dott.
Rowers competed in junior, open, and masters events, a total of 56 events running throughout the day.
