It’s been claws out all season for Rock Ridge boys tennis who last Thursday, May 18 claimed their third straight Section 7A team title.
Forming three years ago the program has known nothing other than finishing their season in the state tournament.
“Now that our guys have been down there the last two years they know what to expect,” head coach Jace Friedlieb said. “They know the caliber of tennis they’re going to see and we’re looking forward to the next four days to get prepared for that.”
“Last year was my first year in the top 10 lineup playing in it, it was fun,” senior Ryan Manninen shared. “We got the first round but then lost our next two, but it was a fun experience and I think that will help going into this next tournament here.”
Then Thursday, May 25 the Wolverines hit Longview Tennis Club for the Section 7A individual tournament.
Rock Ridge’s Jared Delich and Jake Bradach won the doubles bracket, while Cloquet’s Ethan Lavan took first in singles play to advance to state. Hermantown’s Sam Swenson took second in singles and also advances to state. For the Section 7A brackets, Click Here.
