Sole seventh inning run propels Superior softball back to state

A late seventh inning run Thursday lifted the Superior softball team to a 1-0 Division 1 Sectional championship victory over Stevens Point in Marshfield.
Gabbi Saari drove in Melania Luostari for the game-winning run.
The Spartans enter their second straight state tournament with a perfect 25-0 record. Superior finished last season in the state semifinals.
Superior will await seedings, then trek to Madison next week. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) state tournament runs from June 8-10. For the schedule, Click Here.
