The Superior boys lacrosse team tacked on the final two tallies Tuesday night to defeat Duluth Marshall 11-9 at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex. The match marked the Hilltoppers’ season opener, and the Spartans second match of the spring.

The first quarter was neck and neck, ending tied 3-3, then Superior took the slight 5-4 edge at halftime. Each team scored just once in the third, and the Spartans narrowly outshot the Toppers 5-4 in the fourth to earn the 11-9 win.

The Spartans improve to 1-1 on the season, and next visit the Duluth Wolfpack for their road opener Thursday at 7 p.m. at Denfeld High School. Duluth Marshall (0-1) will next visit Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Wednesday at 7 p.m.
