Superior girls hockey falls one step short of State dropping to Central Wisconsin in OT
The Superior girls hockey team rallied to tie Central Wisconsin 3-3 in the third period of their Sectional final Friday night. However the Spartans would fall 4-3 in overtime, one step short of returning to the state tournament.
The Spartans would trail 3-0 in the second period, when Emma Ferg scored their first goal. Superior would net another to trail 3-2 with less then a minute left in the game, then Makaela Reinke scored the game-tying goal to force OT. However Superior would take two penalties to start overtime, and Central Wisconsin would score on the 5-on-3 to win 4-3.
Superior goalie Kaylie Nault made 23 saves.
Superior finishes their season 20-4-1.
