Superior girls hockey holds off Chippewa Falls/Menomonie in home opener
The Superior girls hockey team finished last season one win short of the state tournament, and now they’re off to a 2-0 start to this season. Tuesday the Spartans beat Chippewa Falls/Menomonie 4-3 in their home opener at the Superior Ice Arena.
Superior led 2-0 after the first period, thanks to a late Makaela Reinke goal. The second ended scoreless, with Emma Ferg breaking through for Superior to take a 3-1 lead in the third.
The Spartans (2-0) are off until December 5 when they host Moose Lake Area at 7 p.m.
