Superior high school junior Gavin Rivord has been bowling since he was five years old. Now over a decade later on May 13th he will be heading to Green Bay and the big stage for the Wisconsin State Pepsi Youth Championships.
“I’ve been practicing a lot more now that I know that I’m going to go to that level of competition down there. It’s definitely been trying to keep myself calm, constantly trying to make sure that you focus and want to actually do it. You’re wanting to constantly improve how you’re doing, that feeling of wanting to just come back because next time I come here, I’m going to bowl two times as better as I did then,” said Rivord.
This season after a Village Junior League match Rivord’s arm wasn’t to sore and he decided to play another match for fun, well he bowled a 300.
Depending on the outcome of the state championship Rivord will have a chance to move on to the national competition in Indiana this summer.
