Superior Reds earn 13th inning walk-off win over Chippewa Falls to open playoffs
Superior Reds walk off on Chippewa Falls in 13th inning
The Superior Reds AAA Legion Baseball team opened their postseason Tuesday in dramatic fashion at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
First facing Chippewa Falls, the Reds would force the game all the way into the 13th inning. Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 13th, Superior’s Tyson Teal would bring in Michael Zunker to tie the game 3-3. Then Hudson Helenius hit a shallow ball infield, which was mishandled by Chippewa, allowing Teal to come home and score the game-winning run. Superior defeated Chippewa Falls 4-3.
Superior then battled Eau Claire, falling 13-3. Superior and Eau Claire will rematch at Noon on Wednesday. Superior needs two wins to advance out of the double elimination regional tournament, and into the state tournament.
