Superior’s Halloween 5k gets new course, new name in 2024
A popular Halloween 5k held in Superior, Wisconsin is getting a new name and course for 2024.
The race formerly known as the North End Nightmare 5k is becoming the Superior Nightmare 5k. It is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 26 with a new start and finish area near Wessman Arena and Superior High School.
The new racecourse will take participants through the city’s University district and Hammond Park.
The event, which began in 2019, had previously started and finished in Superior’s north end near Earth Rider Brewery.
“Moving our race to an area of the city that celebrates and showcases Halloween like nowhere else seems like a no-brainer. We’re excited to be welcomed in by these residents and to hopefully bring even more people to share in what they’ve built around the Halloween holiday,” Marketing & Public Relations Director Zach Schneider said in a press release.
The race starts at 11 a.m. and features a costume contest and kids races. Participants will also receive a commemorative long sleeve shirt.
It remains a part of the city-wide Superior Spooktacular celebration, which offers a full day of events, including the Spooktacular parade in the afternoon.
Registration for the 2024 Superior Nightmare 5K is currently open, with a limit of 750 participants. Adult entries are $30 from now until September 15, and youth entries (ages 18 & under) are $15. To register, Click here.
