Year one of “The Arena League” was a success for those involved, of course including the Duluth Harbor Monsters, who won the inaugural championship. Going forward though, the league is making a major change; a 7-on-7 format, instead of 6-on-6.

“We’re looking for a more national branded style of football and we believe as a league that the 7-on-7 look is a much more user friendly experience,” said Harbor Monsters General Manager, Steve Walters.

Walters added that this move means they can now have 16 men suit up on game-day, one more than last season. Their roster will also increase to about 20 men.

Open tryouts for the Harbor Monsters are January 11th in St. Paul.
