Three Northlanders land on U.S. National Under-17 Team
Only 23 skaters get selected to USA’s National Under-17 team. On Wednesday the 2024-2025 roster was released and three Northlanders made the cut.
They are Hermantown natives A.J. Francisco and Victor Plante, and Superior’s Jackson ‘JJ’ Marthaler. Plante spent last season with the Chicago Mission, a AAA youth club.
All players were born in 2008, with eight hailing from Minnesota and Marthaler the sole Wisconsin representative. The U-17 team primarily plays in the United States Hockey League (USHL), and in three international tournaments.
Back in January, 2024 Marthaler and Francisco won gold with Team USA in this year’s Youth Winter Olympics in South Korea.
